Four new fights for DREAM.9 have been announced. An open-weight tournament called “Super Hulk Tournament ~World Superman Championship~” will commence at the event with Minowaman taking on Bob Sapp, Sokoudjou facing K-1 & MMA veteran Jan “The Giant” Nortje, Gegard Mousasi taking on Mark Hunt, and Choi Hong Man fighting former Baseball player Jose Canseco.
Update #1: These 4 fights complete the DREAM.9 card (maybe).
Update #2: DREAM EP Sasahara is aiming at a 15% TV ratings. He said that he still has a trump card, today’s announcement isn’t everything. Is the card really complete?
Update #3: The semifinals and final will not take place on the same day. The rules for the tournament are not set yet but expect shorter fights (why?!) and no knee strikes to the head of a grounded opponent.

i wonder if they already signed Fedor for a fight, that could be his trump card. he could mean he plans on announcing it during dream.9 for a future dream card maybe.

Well, maybe a stupid idea but what came to my mind is that Satoshi Ishii might be this trump card (his signing would be BIG). Paulo Filho was more than once mentioned to participate in DREAM.9 with Jacare and having in mind that he was far from impressive in his last fights he could be a good first fight for Ishii (opponent known in Japan and looking not too good right now I think would be perfect; not only would Ishii debut but also defeat a known name). Of course it’s only my imagination and it will most likely not happen
Satoshi Ishii is a HW and Paulo Filho is a small MW. Not going to happen.
Well, Ishii is a small HW and without any problem he could make LHW limit if he want plus all the articles which were mentioning that Paulo will be fighting in DREAM.9 stated that he moves to LHW.
So there’s a possibility…
Does somebody know, why FEG never put Bob Sapp vs Gary Goodridge (K-1 or MMA rules)? They both are brute-force monsters and this matchup seems natural to me…

I’m very unsure about the Soko/Nortje fight. If Soko can take him down and hold him there, I think he will win by strikes on the ground.
Minowaman could catch a leg (I really hope so) but it’s unlikely. Will this be a replay of Sapp vs. Tamura?
Mousasi has a clear advantage on the ground and I think he can get it there, especially with his new weight.
CHM will definitely win, if Canseco really fights.

i have a feeling manhoef will fight kimbo and filho will fight manhoef or something happens between those three. or maybe emelenienko gets thrown in the mix with cro cop.
I’m almost certain Cro Cop will be returning on this card. Maybe even participate in the Super Hulk tournament.
