Dynamite!! 2009! Masato’s Fight Possibly A 10 Rounder
At a press conference today, FEG’s Tanigawa talked about this years Dynamite!! event. The event is planned to be on around the same scale as last years, which consisted of 18 K-1 and MMA fights.
Masato’s fight is currently the plan for main event of the night. However, it isn’t sure that the fight will be against this years MAX champion. A potential opponent is also Andy Souwer (winning the MAX GP or not), who Masato has never beaten in K-1.
About the rules of the fight, Tanigawa wants it to be at least a 5 rounder and if it’s OK with Masato and his opponent, he’d like to make it a 7 or even 10 rounder.
The event will take place at the Saitama Super Arena and Tanigawa expects an attendance of 40,000. Because of the large attendance, the event will consist of an all-star cast. Tanigawa mentioned Kazushi Sakuraba, Kiyoshi Tamura, Norifumi “KID” Yamamoto, Hayato “Mach” Sakurai, Shinya Aoki, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Badr Hari, and Jerome Le Banner as a few possible participants.
The event will be broadcasted on TBS for 5 and a half hours without break. The first card announcement will take place sometime after the next DREAM and K-1 MAX events.

wow!!! That’s gonna be great although i think it will end sooner due to Masato KTFOing his opponent in the early rounds (regardless of who his opponent is).
So pretty much the same fighters from last years Dynamite are to be expected at this years Dynamite, lol
I would of rathered they announced the rest of the Dream.12 card as oppose to giving us news about Dynamite right now
Thanks for the updates as usual, Ninja
There might still be a dream card update today. I think Sasahara was at the press conference as well.
Bae said on a Korean site that he will most likely face Nakahara.
oh really? I was guessing Bae vs Ninja
Dream needs to scoop up Young Choi some time soon, spice things up. Same with Koyama
10 rounds is ridiculous. Even 7 rounds is a lil much imo. 5 rounds would be perfect though.
i like having alot of fights but i think having that many fights hurt the main event i assuming by the time the mainevent came about everyone had already blown their load
and were sleeping
The longer the fight goes the bigger the TV rating will be, so it makes sense from a TV standpoint to let them have a long match.
Saitama Super Arena can’t hold more than 35, 000. I’m sure they’ll just announce 40, 000 anyway if they get close to filling the building in the old-PRIDE set-up.
37,000 is the capacity seating, but it can hold more. Pride was able to accomodate the middle of the arena to hold around 8-10 thousand extra seats. So 40,000 is definitely possible.
