Dynamite!! 2009! Press Conference Has Arrived Part 3
Shinya Aoki was a little cocky at today’s press conference. When asked about who he wants to fight he said: “Who’s the current champion of SENGOKU? I don’t know.”
He also said that if the promoters tell him to fight, he’ll think about it.
When asked to comment on the message Aoki just sent him, Hirota said: “My frank thoughts are that it made me feel sick (it can also mean feel irritated/offended).”
Hirota once again said that he wants to KO Alvarez on NYE, he thinks that fight would be more exciting. He ended his comment with: “My impression of Aoki? He’s a fighter with long arms and legs.”
FEG’s Tanigawa said that he himself proposed this union event. They started discussing since the end of October. He also said that he doesn’t know what will happen with the FieLDS sponsorship next year.
The WVR GM said that the current plan for the next SRC event is March. The fighters participating will be the fighters who have fought there until now.
Sasahara said that there will be 18-19 fights on NYE, and there will also be fights between DREAM fighters so it’s not only SENGOKU vs. DREAM on the MMA side. Kawajiri and KID couldn’t attend the press conference because they were out on other business.
About SENGOKU only fights (besides Ishii vs. Yoshida) the WVR GM said that it’s yet to be decided if there will be any.
Misaki’s participation is also yet to be decided. There will be a meeting about if his suspension will be lifted or not. Misaki himself said: “I want to obey the instruction of the SENGOKU side.”
There will be foreign fighters competing as well, but the Japanese fighters will be the focus.
Tanigawa wants to match the champions with each other. The rules might depend on the fight.
About a future merger, Tanigawa said that Dynamite!! is mainly TBS’s event so there’s nothing like that.
The plan is for a double main event but Masato’s fight will probably be last since they’ll have a retirement ceremony after the fight. The event will start at 3 PM.
About K-1 fights besides Masato’s retirement fight and the Koshien finals Tanigawa said that there might be. It depends on what happens on December 5th.

You know about the things Gryphon is writing in his twitter?
My excitement level has lowered a few notches
Aoki is awesome. I hope he fights Andy Ologun or Hong Man Choi and really pisses everyone off.
About Shukan Gendai?
Yup. Didn’t hear about them once again investigating mma orgs. And the talk about Sengoku owners being Yasuda and another person. Heard that some “not very clean” people wanted to enter mma but I didn’t think one would associate it with Sengoku.
I knew that CWE was a main sponsor but not that someone from there was the second owner.
Hornbuckle goes to Bellator. A sign of fighters leaving Sengoku? Or something else?
Bet many rumors will still be popping out.
Rictor:
I talked to some people, and they said there are a number of fighters already negotiating to leave to the states, mostly non Japanese fighters, obviously. Dan Hornbuckle was one of the most recent ones. King Mo and Antonio Silva were previous to him. Fighters like Jorge Santiago and Mamed Khalidov might be next.
I got a rumor messaged to me about the future of SENGOKU. SENGOKU would go smaller scale for now if true, but it would excite more than anything else in JMMA right now.
I know Tony mentioned the same, without a big sponsor, they would go smaller, though big name fighters will jump ship quickly. They already have an event booked for March, I believe, so that could be their last “big” event.
Please do tell, how would it exciting JMMA right now, and my other question is, how would they differentiate between SRC and Shooto, Pancrase, DEEP, etc. Thanks.
Sounds interesting. Could you tell some more?
Heard Brock Larson was cut by the UFC. Looking at Strikeforce and Japan.
A man would take over sengoku (not financially). This man knows A LOT about MMA, even about up and coming fighters outside of Japan.
Is this person Akira Maeda by chance? And is DREAM going to be able to cherry pick WVR’s talent as they see fit?
by zuffa, you mean.
It would have been good to see a SVS&E rep like scott cooker there. I don’t like this idea of promotions closing themselves off. When they do, we have pretend top ten rankings, that aren’t based on any legitimate process of elimination. Wait, that’s what we have now.
Why not try to book Frank Shamrock vs. Sak?
Akira Maeda also comes to my mind.
Agreed.
Not Maeda. This guy isn’t known at all outside of Japan.
That’s all I’ll write for now.
Hmmm, if you say so then I think I’ll have to look through the names in japanese mma scene.
Not surprised to hear about non Japanese Fighters starting to come back to the States.
Actually he might be known to some outside of Japan, but not on a large scale today. He has been around, especially the pancrase and pride days. But isn’t someone who normal MMA fans outside of Japan will know (only the really hardcore).
Is it Nobuyuki Sakakibara
I’m guessing Sanae Kikuta. I don’t know very much about him so maybe that’s a completely absurd guess though.
Ok, I guess I got some leads. Though would it mean that Sengoku would become a feeder org to DREAM or whatever comes out of the talks between Tanigawa and Yasuda?
It surely isn’t Sakakibara btw.
Everybody know Nobuyuki Sakakibara. -_-
I don’t know what it means for the current DREAM/SRC thing, but I don’t think it would be an official feeder.
That’s what bugs me. If the rumor is true and what Imamura said today that Don Quijote is to stay with SRC is true also then I bet Yasuda would want to make one big org and have the smaller ones to build fighters for it. He already kinda owns Pancrase and is affiliated with Shooto, DEEP is very close with DREAM and ZST is on good terms with anyone in the scene.
Sakakibara is stained from the PRIDE scandal. I would have thought Sotaro Shinoda, I think thats the guy’s name, the VP of DSE, but he was apart of that stuff too. Akira Sakata, the ex UFC-Japan guy, Saeki from DEEP (just listing people who know stuff), maybe an ex-Pro Wrestler like Antonio Inoki?
Sotaro Shinoda is with DREAM. Saeki not. Inoki surely not. Just reducing the options
Thanks, trying to figure it out. RINGS, Pancrase people, and could it be someone who was like Momose back in the day?
Why not Nobuhiko Takada? I read, that he has left HUSTLE some time ago, so…
Wish they would of covered all these topics in the presser, good lord.
so is it official Don Q didnt jump ship? and now the rumor Sengoku has a new “head”?
It’s a tradition. Keeping everything a secret until it isn’t a secret anymore and then announcing it. Irritating to say the least but that’s the way it is.
It is obviously The Evil Seiya Kawamata.

Ok, some people wondered what’s going on with Kokuho. He was fired from WVR http://www.kamipro.com/news/?id=1259233087
I should stop trying to run articles through google translate. If anything, they become more incomprehensible.
Though I believe I saw that he wasn’t fired completely from the company but lost the position he was holding.
