DREAM Vs. SRC?! January Japanese MMA Magazines

November 19, 2009 21 comments

The table of contents for the January editions of Japanese MMA magazines Gong Kakutougi and Kakutougi Tsushin basically confirm a DREAM X SRC NYE joint event.

On Tsushin it says: “DREAM Vs. SENGOKU(SRC), outbreak of war!”

The chief editor writes/says that on NYE, an all-star dream card will be implemented.

On Gong it says: “DREAM X SENGOKU @ NYE, toward the alliance of the century.”

SRC Lightweight champion Hirota says: “If SRC and Dynamite!! hold an event together, I want to overcome and KO Eddie Alvarez.”

There’s nothing though about what will happen after the joint NYE event.

These table of contents aren’t even officially out yet so thanks to the site below for finding and posting them.

So what fights between fighters of the different organizations do people want to see?

Fights like Hirota vs. Alvarez, Omigawa vs. KID or Takaya, Hornbuckle or Takimoto vs. Zaromskis, Yokota vs. Kikuno, and Izumi vs. Manhoef don’t sound impossible to me.

The Latest! Probably The Last One

November 18, 2009 9 comments

From Shu Hirata’s blog (translated by gryphon):

Famous agent Shu Hirata said in his blog. “I am in japan now,I can not return to USA.because I have to nagotiate…”

“I have to nagotiate for future od my all cliants.I can not say any more, but maybe you feel atomosphere…my remark is after official news”

A notice has been put up on SENGOKU’s website, saying that the site is under maintenance and that there won’t be any news updates for the time being.

Ticket sales company T-1 has stopped selling tickets for SRC 12, writing that there will be an announcement soon.

And Tanikawa is once again writing riddles on his new twitter, this time probably about Hirata’s blog post. In his latest tweet he writes that he was contacted by a strange (the Japanese word can mean a lot of things including funny, curious, odd, etc.) acquaintance called Sho.

He also writes that he heard that today is Sakakibara’s birthday. “I wonder what he’s doing, Mr. Bara.” (Bara also means rose).

K-1 Twitter! Tanikawa Shopping At Don Quijote

November 17, 2009 8 comments

There were no announcements at all today. In related news however, K-1 have entered the twitter world and K-1 Producer Tanikawa has also started his own.

One hour ago (2 AM Japanese time) Tanikawa updated his twitter from his cellphone, writing that he went shopping at Don Quijote today (Don Quijote as you might now is a chain store which is available at a lot of locations in Japan).

Also check out the K-1 WGP 2009 Finals site which contains a lot of fighters prediction videos and other things.

Korean News! Dong Hyun Kim’s MMA Organization?

November 16, 2009 4 comments

Dong Hyun Kim’s own organization?

UFC fighter Dong Hyun Kim who is currently recovering from an injury was recently interviewed in Korea. While talking about how there are only very small events in South Korea and how it is hard for fighters to be able to fight freely (not only when DEEP & CMA do events together). Kim wants someone to make an organization where Korean fighters can fight and construct an infrastructure. Kim even says that currently even he himself wants to try to start up an organization.

Kim, who was at the latest DEEP & CMA joint event as a second, was told by fans to come back and fight in Japan again. After he is successful in the U.S., he thinks it would be great if he could return to Japan and perform in front of the fans.

The Khan 2 complete

jeongczhech

The November 27th “The Khan 2″ event is complete and it’s a very solid card. Im Chi Bin’s opponent will be the Chinese fighter who crushed Cosplayer Jienotsu at the last K-1 MAX event, Xu Yan.

Popular woman fighter Su Jeong Lim’s first round opponent in the one-night 4-women tournament will be a girl from (I believe) the Czech Republic.

Kim Min Soo vs. Sentoryu, Virgil Kalakoda vs. Jae Gil No, Su Hwan Lee vs. Min Seok Kwon, and Hyun Man Myung vs. Kaoklai Kaennorsing are four other interesting/fun fights on the card.

Pancrase Korea returns

The first Pancrase Korea card in two years will take place on November 29th and it will be the first event in the capital, Seoul. Fighters in this event will have the chance to continue to bigger things just as “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung did after winning at Pancrase Korea in Pusan.

M-1 Global rep talks Fedor

A Korean M-1 Global rep talked about Fedor through Korean site XSports. The rep said that Fedor only has a light ligament injury in the little finger of his left hand. About Fedor’s nose, the rep said that despite some reports, Rogers just cut Fedor with his nail so there are no bone injuries or anything.

He also delivered a message from Fedor to the Korean fans. Fedor will visit South Korea again from December 12th to December 15th where he will be photographed for a CM and attend a memory event for the newly established South Korean Sambo Federation.

Shooto Vs. Pancrase! The First 4

November 16, 2009 3 comments

Another interesting development currently taking place in Japanese MMA is long time rivals Shooto and Pancrase finally promoting fights between their fighters.

Fights might have already taken place in Pancrase, but at Shooto Revolutionary Exchanges 3 on November 23rd, the first four Pancrase vs. Shooto fights in Shooto will happen.

In a Middleweight fight Takuya Wada (P) will face Shiko Yamashita (S), in a Lightweight fight Kotetsu Boku (S) takes on Yukio Sakaguchi (P) who has stepped in for Koji Oishi, in a Bantamweight fight Mamoru (S) will battle the rising Kiyotaka Shimizu (P), and in a women’s fight Megumi Fujii (S) will look to stay undefeated against Windy Tomomi (P).

Shooto will most likely take most of the wins in the four fights but it’s a very fun and historic development taking place right now.

Aoki Champion Celebration! NYE Reports

A celebration for Shinya Aoki becoming DREAM Lightweight champion was held in Tokyo today.

DREAM EP Sasahara was present at the celebration and was once again asked the question about a union event with SRC on NYE. Sasahara’s reply: “Really, nothing is settled.”

It seems that no progress has been made on an Aoki vs. Kawajiri fight for NYE either.

On the latest issue of Playboy in Japan it says that the Ishii vs. Yoshida fight was going to be aired on tape delay on TV Tokyo on January 3rd. However, in addition to the huge cost of Ishii vs. Yoshida, this frame on TV Tokyo also had to be purchased (pay to air Ishii/Yoshida?!) for quite a lot of money so it seems like Don Quijote president Yasuda got angry.

One of the SENGOKU girls has written on her blog that there will be an important announcement tomorrow. She doesn’t write what it has to do with though, just an important announcement.

There was nothing about a NYE event on the SRC Damashii episode yesterday. Ryo Chonan writes that the current MMA situation in Japan has become somewhat puzzling in his latest blog post.

Also, check out this thread for some more info.
