Dynamite!! 2009! The Ratings

Wife X Masato - Sportsnavi.com

The ratings for Dynamite!! 2009 are out and they weren’t what Tanigawa had predicted before the event. The first portion of the card got a 11.8% rating, the second a 16.7%, and the third a 10.6% rating.

Not close to the red and white song contest which got 37.1% rating in it’s first portion and a 40.8% rating in it’s second. They did beat the other big program this NYE in comedy show Gaki no Tsukai on Nippon TV by 0.3% though (probably not in average rating though). Definitely not catastrophic.

What fights were on which portion:

The first part was Koshien + Izumi-Shibata + Takaya-Omigawa + Mach-Gono (only 2nd round) + KID-Kanehara + Tokoro-Kim (the last two fights might have been in the middle, not sure how they sorted them).

The middle was Ishii-Yoshida + Masato-Souwer (over an hour considering all the PVs and the anthem + fairwell speech).

The last part was about 20 minutes long with no PVs, Misaki-Manhoef, Overeem-Fujita, Aoki-Hirota and ending with a replay of the Yoshida-Ishii fight.

Kawajiri didn’t even get on the broadcast and Aoki’s fight was at a bad time. Reality check for people who think their fight will be “big”.

Also, Kazuo Misaki and his people have appealed for his fight with Manhoef being overturned to a no contest. The refereeing group will answer in two weeks.

Wow, that’s a huge disappointment. I was hoping the show would have at least been the resurgence of MMA in Japan, but it ended up a disappointment on nearly every level. I guess the big crowd was the only bright bit of news to come out of the show.

I don’t think anyone’s going to be begging Sengoku for the next Ishii fight. I wonder if that’s it for them.

That is most likely the end for sengoku, cant imagine how bad the NYE rating would have been. Wonder how much Ishii’s fight drew by itself as Im sure FEG gets individual fight breakdowns, those would be interesting. As far as Aoki Kawajiri, they arent ratings draws, but it seems that it could attract a solid crowd at Yokohama Arena or Ariake Coliseum, thats about it. As far as the ratings go, it was at least better than last years so its a step. I know it was because of Masato, but without K-1 fighters like Hari, LeBanner, etc, and a bunch of Sengoku fighters who have little exposure, it could have been a hell of a lot worse.

Not nearly what I was expecting.

However finishing #2 is something they should be VERY happy about.

Kohaku is just too damn popular. 40% = 50 million viewers I believe

still, it’s MOTHERFUCKIN’ Masato. He literally could have had any single women in Japan; you’d think he’d have a girl with looks and personality.

I don’t understand why Masato-san would even get married.

He should enjoy the benefits of female adoration like I do.

Well they could have made sylvia, sapp or something. But there were a lot of cooks in the kitchen on this one, and very few had a good card as primary motive.

You’ve got a bad case of logofetish if you’re blaming the sengoku banner.
