Address Change! NightmareOfBattle.com
The blog has moved to the address above. The biggest differences are the new design and a more friendly blog for people who don’t know much about (Japanese) MMA. There’s a widget to the right where you can switch between categories, tags, recent comments, post archives, etc.
Anyway, no more posts here.
Korean News! CMA Korea X Pancrase Korea
CMA Korea X Pancrase Korea
Both CMA Korea and Pancrase Korea are making movements these days. CMA Korea (not an MMA promotion) will have sent as many as 26 Korean fighters to Japan to fight between the October 25th DREAM.12 event and the November 11th DEEP/CMA event (DREAM.12, HEAT.12, GLADIATOR III, clubDEEP Kyoto, SENGOKU XI, and DEEP/CMA Thanksgiving).
Pancrase Korea started In March of 2007 and it’s location has been in Busan, the second largest city in South Korea. They have had (and are still having) problems with sponsors though so they have not always been able to hold events when wanted.
This year, however, the Pancrase Korea representative happened to meet the president of an MMA gym in Korea, which has led to Pancrase Korea now being able to hold amateur events in the capital, Seoul.
The gym is the same gym where the Korean edition of the SENGOKU Gold Cup was held, which was also made possible because of the meeting between the gym president and the Pancrase Korea representative.
The Pancrase Korea rep said that the first event will take place at the end of November and that he wants to hold an event every 2 months at the gym from now on.

Un Sik Song Returns
It looks like undefeated Korean featherweight Un Sik Song will return to competition on November 7th for the inaugural event of the new Korean stand-up organization W (Double U). I think Song, who should have been in one of the Featherweight GP’s this year, is out or still has a little time left of his mandatory military service.
Also participating in the event are MAX fighter Im Chi Bin, 2-0 K-1 Heavyweight Hyon Man Myong, and Se Ki Kim.

DEEP CAGE IMPACT! DEEP Vs. PXC
Five fights have been announced for the first ever cage event by DEEP. As you may recall, this event will allow soccer kicks, stomps, and elbows, and will not be fought in a hexagon which was the case at DREAM.12.
DEEP Bantamweight champion Masakazu Imanari and DEEP Megaton GP winner Yusuke Kawaguchi will take on champions of Guam’s PXC organization, which DEEP has a good relationship with. Imanari’s opponent is URCC and PXC Bantamweight champion Justin “The Shocker” Cruz and Kawaguchi’s opponent is PXC Heavyweight champion Roque Martinez.
In a Light Heavyweight fight on the card, Bernard Ackah will take on DEEP Megaton GP participant Shunji Kosaka, who has gone 2-0-1 since the GP. This fight will have a big impact on the title picture of DEEP’s LHW division.

DREAM Open-Weight GP This Year?! DREAM.8 Poster
DREAM.7 and its horrible refereeing is over. With the event receiving quite low ratings (even though it was a past midnight timeslot) something has to be done. This blog has a new post about a newspaper article saying that DREAM will hold an open-weight GP this summer. DREAM EP Sasahara is quoted in the article as saying that he wants it to be the same scale as the IWGP tournaments (in the 1980′s). He also says that he wants to negotiate with Fedor.
Sasahara said at the post DREAM.7 press conference that he will consider Kawajiri’s proposal of a Lightweight number 1 contender fight between himself and J.Z.Calvan at DREAM.9 in May.
In other DREAM news, the poster for DREAM.8 has been released and it includes Katsuyori Shibata, Hideo Tokoro, Minowaman, Hayato “Mach” Sakurai, Shinya Aoki, and Ronaldo Jacare.
Update: Yuya Shirai vs. Yoon Young Kim at clubDEEP on March 14th will be a DREAM Welterweight GP qualifier.
