The Battle Between Two Celebrities Brothers! Sakaguchi Vs. Ologun

Two new fights were announced for Dynamite!! today. As rumored, Yukio Sakaguchi will take on Andy Ologun in an MMA rules fight which should be entertaining. This is a battle between Kenji Sakaguchi’s older brother and Bobby Ologun’s younger brother. In the second announced fight, Hayato “Mach” Sakurai will take on Katsuyori Shibata (who was actually the second guy I thought of when I read 10th dan in faints).

Update: Neither fight has a contracted weight set right now. However, the Sakurai vs. Shibata fight is said to be fought around 81 kg, which is almost exactly in between DREAM’s Welterweight and Middleweight divisions.

Was hoping for a better opponent for Sakurai, Sakaguchi vs. Ologun should be good though!

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind Minowaman vs. Shibata actually. At least it would have some background story and they are both so intense that it would be fun.

They could’ve found a decent WW for Mach. SENGOKU have had Pyle, Monteiro, Thompson, etc. on their cards.

I don’t think Mach is happy, I think he will FEG soon.

Maybe they are saving the title fight because they have a WW GP in mind for 2009. Mach said in the first press conference of DREAM: “I’m in MMA for quite a while and have been punched for a long time. I don’t fight in the tournament, but I will fight a lot next year.” or something like that. I don’t think he’ll be leaving that fast.

Shibata can’t beat anybody his size, so he takes on the ‘little’ guy… (-_^)

Rictor, that’s true, I think they’ll hold WW and FW GP’s in 2009 with Aoki being the focus of the WW GP.

WW? unless they can sign more fighters like Shields, Nick Diaz and such they should hold a HW Gp instead, imo. im sure they can use some of the Affliction guys plus the Heavies they already have it could be nice.

as for the FW Gp, im really looking forward to it.

if they used the Affliction guys, they would have Fedor, AA, Barnett, Yvel, Kiril, Nelson, Buentello, Sylvia, and then Dream Sergei, Overeem, Mirko, Hari, Sapp, Schilt, Mo, and HMC. thats 16

u dont see how they could gather 16 WWs, especially if Mach isnt fighting in it. maybe they could do a 8 man GP

Mach will be in it, windkick.

  9. December 24, 2008 at 7:41 pm

even with Mach, i dont think Dream even has 5 WWs, would be interesting to see how they hold a 16 man GP. maybe they can nab some ppl from Deep

maybe hold these Gps, is a good way for them to get the division going and gethering a load of fighters and introducing them to the crowd at the same time.

Maybe they won’t be top 10 WWs but with the available talent DREAM can put a 16 man WW GP with ease. And with the top guys in the tournament being japanese (Mach, Aoki) it’s only better for FEG.

aside from the rumored Hari x Overeem fight, how many more fights does every one expect? 2-3 more?

    im still guessing
    Masakatsu Funaki vs. Junichi Sawayashiki

thats should be the last two.

  12. December 25, 2008 at 9:22 am

Yeah, about 2-3 more. Hari/Overeem, Minowaman/probably Zimmerman. Then maybe Funaki and/or maybe Ishida.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see a K-1 Lightweight fight also. They have that popular guy with the hair. Uematsu. He is really good.
