Micah Miller In DREAM GP?! Press Conference Tomorrow?

American Top Team have released the scheduled fights of their fighters for February and March. On the list it says that Micah Miller will participate in DREAM in March.

Feb 6th WCA Marcus Aurelio (see preview)
Feb 7th UFC Fight Night 17 Gleison Tibau, Luigi Fioravanti, and Steve Bruno
Feb 21st UFC 95 Wilson Gouveia
Mar 1st WEC Mike Brown
Mar 8th Dream Micah Miller
Mar 20th Sengoku Chris Manuel

Apr 1st UFC Fight Night 18 Cole Miller, Carmelo Marrero

There might be a DREAM press conference tomorrow. DREAM EP Sasahara said at the DREAM 2009 schedule press conference that there will be a big announcement in the future. I don’t know what has happened with that since then but on Japanese boards, besides crying about an 18 year old participating in the SENGOKU GP, there are a lot of theories on what the announcement could be.

Could you mention the most interesting theories?

For example cooperation with Affliction, large sponsor, Ishii, Takada joining dream, one day hw tournament on NYE, etc.

It’s all just guesses though (besides the hw tournament though, but it feels a little too early to announce that), they don’t know more than anyone else.

    Thanks.

One that wouldn’t surprise is Judo Olympic gold medalist Choi Min Ho participating in the GP. His run at the Olympics was awesome.

Everyone knew the FWGPs would be filled with some garbage guys just because of how thinly spread the talent would be. Yamada will get beat badly, but whatever.

How certain is the press conference?

How is a 3-0 guy who has finished all of his opponents garbage? He’s as tall as some LHW’s.

The press conference is a maybe, we’ll see tomorrow. But I’m writing about it here so it’s not just a guess or something.

Yamada is 2-1 and got KOed by a fellow ZST dude. Terrible sign when a ZST dude knocks you out.

Yamada is 3-0, the fight finder is wrong, he was the one who won by KO.

I’m just morbidly curious at some of the names they’ll be reaching for in this GP.

With two fw gps going on at once, it did spread the talent around.

So far the sengoku gp looks to have the edge imo but we’ll see when all the participants are officially announced for both gps

    Thanks for the update!

I thought it was going to be OK but with many SHOOTO fighters not participating I guess we’ll see some new faces.

hey N.O.B., how does this list look to you for the Dream gp? looks about right according to rumors? whats your take

    possible entrants
8 foreign: Micah Miller, Chase Beebe, Kim Jong Won, Uyenoyama, Bibiano Fernandez (3 plus more)

8 japanese: Kid Yamamoto, Tokoro, Miyata, Imanari, Atsushi, Wicky Akiyo, DJ.taiki/SHOJI, Takafumi Otsuka (this is 8, might be all the japanese to enter)

  13. February 4, 2009 at 9:53 pm

Yea, I could see something like that. However, I don’t think they’ll be able to keep down the number of Japanese fighters to just 8 (I’m guessing 9,10 or something). And if KID gets a bye there will only be 17 fighters in the GP.

They’re still planning on only doing half of the opening round fights at DREAM.7, correct? If so that doesn’t necessarily mean that KID will get a first round bye, he could just be seeded into the first round at DREAM.8 or whenever the second half of the Featherweight GP takes place.

    Looks like no press conference.

I think they should have started with a hw tournament.

1 in 100 times, mma promoters have major announcements. Sponsorship isn’t major unless you get you jollies off looking at corporate logos.

Whom, I don’t remember reading anything about a half/half thing.
