DREAM.8! Two GP Participants Announced

Two GP participants were announced for the first round of the Welterweight GP taking place at DREAM.8 in April. They are Hayato “Mach” Sakurai and Shinya Aoki. Also announced was that the winner of Seichi Ikemoto and Hidetaka Monma at DEEP 40 IMPACT on the 20th will get a spot in the GP. Minowaman was announced as a non-GP fight participant.

Update: Aoki asked DREAM EP Sasahara how ticket sales for DREAM.7 are going. He asked if it is all right if he doesn’t participate and asked for a fight before the GP. Sasahara looked a little puzzled and said that he cannot answer that right now.

If people don’t quite understand Aoki’s comments above I’ll try to explain. He is not asking if he can get off the hook and not fight at DREAM.7. First he asks about how ticket sales are going, then he says something like: “Is it REALLY OK if I don’t participate?” Then he asks Sasahara to let him participate since he is already preparing. He is “arrogant”/thinks he is a big draw/thinks highly of himself/joking.

Awsome I love DREAM, did you see the article that says Manhoef will fight in Strikeforce this year? Why would DREAM let him?
Think of the amazing feild of 16 Strikeforce could put together for a mw tournament.
    Joe Villasenior vs Paulo Fhilo
    Akiyama vs Trigg
    Manhoef vs Vitor Belfort
    Lawler vs Kala Hose
    Santiago vs Benji Radich
    Shamrock vs Rua
    Misaki vs Cyborg
    Cung Le vs Scott Smith
Who takes these fights + the following matches N.O.B? Also who would you prefer to see in this kind of tourney?

Depends on which Filho shows up.
    Belfort if he is smart.
    Tough…I’ll say Santiago.
    Another tough one…Shamrock.
    Cung Le.

Filho-Akiyama = Filho if he is in his best shape and mentally at a good place, or else Akiyama.
Belfort-Lawler = hhmm…I’ll go with Lawler but Belfort can knock out any MW if he lands a good one
    Santiago-Shamrock = Santiago
Misaki-Cung Le = Tough fight but unless Misaki ends up on top on the ground or gets a guillotine, Cung Le

Filho-Lawler = again, depends on which Filho shows up.
Santiago-Le = Depends on if Le can keep the fight off the ground.

Filho-Le = If the best Filho shows up he wins the tournament.

I would prefer to see many of the fighters in your list in this kind of tournament.
