Cro Cop In Contract Negotiations

Mirko Cro Cop has revealed that he is negotiating with just about every major MMA promotion as he recovers from a knee reconstruction. His contract with DREAM expired after his NYE victory over Hong Man Choi according to an article in Croatian sports newspaper “Sportske Novosti”. He is in contact with several promotions and is looking to make his final decision within a month.

“I’m in talks with Japanese promotions which of course is natural since they treated me so well over the years. And its not a secret anymore that the UFC have contacted me. I’m also in talks with another US organization.” Said Filipovic.

The third unnamed U.S promotion looking to recruit Mirko appears to be Affliction. With its long list of heavyweight talent, it would certainly offer plenty of interesting match-ups for the Croatian. Affliction VP and co owner Tom Atencio made it clear in recent Q&A session with fans that he is interested signing Cro Cop.

“He’s awesome and we would love to have him here at Affliction. Cro Cop would be a very interesting fighter here at Affliction.”

Mirko has returned to light training work with his strength and conditioning coach Jukic. His recovery is going to plan as he starts to work on his cardio and weight work. Sparring for the Croatian is still a long way off. Recovering from these types of injuries is extremely difficult. A low percentage of athletes return to their best after the operation. Even if the operation is a success, it usually takes another 2 to 3 fights just to return to optimum cardio levels.

“I’m training as much as I can at this stage of the recovery. I’m mainly working on weights and cardio with conditioning coach Jukic. As things stand at the moment I can say that the operation went very well.” Said an enthusiastic Cro Cop.

I don’t mean to be an asshole, but you really shouldn’t be acknowledging the existence of a website dealing zuffa betting odds. Zuffa’s events get way too much attention as is.

Scott Coker should be making an offer. He’s got overeem for at least one more fight and if he could schedule overeem, crocop II it’d make for a legit title fight.

Am I the only one slightly worried by DREAM’s not having announced a single match up for DREAM.7 yet? I know they usually wait until a month out to start getting serious, but it seems like they’re really cutting it close now with only 17 days until the event is supposed to take place.

Whom, I guess you should also worry about the fact that many of the top names of DREAM are eyeing UFC contracts.
Its PRIDE dying all over again!
At last we get a promotion(DREAM) that is on the right track to becoming the next PRIDE, and both the fighters and the Japanese are giving it their backs.
Caol Uno has already signed with the UFC and is said to be fighting on the UFC 99 card in Germany. Crocop is eyeing a UFC contract also, and both Overeem and Schilt are good friends with Dana White and seem to be looking to transfer from DREAM to UFC.

I think that DREAM may not have much to give if they are letting their fighters go like this. I know its not their fault, but Im just so mad that DREAM seems to be getting some hard times as they are trying to grow.

DREAM still doesnt have a good Heavyweight line-up of fighters, and almost has no Light-Heavywights AT ALL!

Im just afraid that DREAM wont be left with many fighters.
You can already see that in their upcoming GP that almost all the fighters are Japanese fighters from smaller promotions like Shoot, DEEP, Pancrase..etc. Dont get me wrong, I love all those promotions and I know that they have a lot of talent, but the fact is that the fighters are unknown, and that isnt going to attract an international crowd.

I just hope these fighters stay in DREAM for a little longer, just till DREAM gets a little bigger, and then lets see what happens from there.

Thanks for the news anyway. I love this site!

I’m a fan of Cro COP I think the problem with Cro Cop is that he is too much afraid of loosing since he is a nice guy and doesn’t want to disappoint his fans but this is a very wrong strategy. he should not be worried about that at all he is a fighter and sometimes you loose sometimes you wan you just have to give it all and do your best and don’t be afraid of what if, he should not be afraid of throwing those punches and kicks
