FINAL16 Fights Complete! New Faces

The K-1 World MAX 2009 FINAL16 match-ups were announced by FEG today. A couple of new faces will join the Japan MAX events when The Contender Asia participant Dzhabar Askerov takes on Giorgio Petrosyan who defeated Andy Souwer in March at an It’s Showtime event. Chahid will also make his MAX Japan debut as he takes on Nieky Holtzken who was eliminated from the 2007 K-1 World MAX GP when he lost to Buakaw Por.Pramuk.

Andy Souwer will face fellow Dutchman Leroy Keastner, Artur Kyshenko will take on Alviar Lima, and 2009 Japan MAX GP champion Taishin Kohiruimaki will face 2009 Asia MAX GP champion Chi Bin Lim. A similar scenario is seen in the reserve fight as 2009 Japan MAX GP runner-up Yuya Yamamoto takes on 2009 Asia MAX GP runner-up Su Hwan Lee.

Masahiro Yamamoto, who I wrote about in an older post, will make his K-1 debut taking on YUKI in a K-1 Lightweight division fight.

Update: Masato and HIROYA will wear shinguards in their exhibition match.

I think YUKI was R.I.S.E. under 60kg champ but recently suffered defeated in his title defense. Also K-1 and R.I.S.E. announced partnership some days ago http://www.k-1.co.jp/jp/news/2009/0329_etc_01.html http://www.rise-kgs.com/k1.html

Yup, many R.I.S.E. fighters appear in MAX so they might as well make something official.

You’re right, seems that he was the first R.I.S.E. 60 kg champ.
