It was announced at the SNGOKU VIII post-event press conference today that SENGOKU will start a new project on their SENGOKUG! TV program called “Gold Rush Project”. The plan is around 4 fighters each in the 60, 65, and 70 kg weight classes fighting each other in no-audience fights which will be aired on SENGOKUG!.

The plan is for two fighters to be left by the middle of June with the finals taking place as opening fights at SENGOKU IX in August at the Saitama Super Arena. SENGOKUG! will also show background and training footage of these fighters. The young fighters will come from gyms such as Yoshida Dojo, PANCRASE, and GRABAKA, and they will not have had more than 3, 4 professional fights.

Masanori Kanehara said that he would like to be matched up with Hatsu Hioki in the semifinal of the GP in August at the press conference.

Update: Kitaoka’s opponent and the Semifinals will be announced by the end of May.
