All-Star Assembly! Public Contract Signing

The first ever SENGOKU outdoor event will take place at Shinjuku Station Square tomorrow (June 4th) at 5:30 PM. At the event, Satoshi Ishii will sign the SENGOKU contract.

The following SENGOKU fighters will also attend the event: Michihiro Omigawa, Masanori Kanehara, Ryo Kawamura, Sanae Kikuta, Satoru Kitaoka, Yuki Kondo, Yuki Sasaki, Makoto Takimoto, Yoshihiro “KISS” Nakao, Kazuhiro Nakamura, Mizuto Hirota, Kazuo Misaki, Eiji Mitsuoka, “Former Super High School Student” Tetsuya Yamada, Kazunori Yokota, Shigeki Osawa, Maxi (Maximo Blanco), and Hidehiko Yoshida.

Don’t be surprised if a few SENGOKU IX fights are announced since Sanae Kikuta and Eiji Mitsuoka, who are planned to participate at the event, will visit the outside event.

The list of names attending seems to confirm that Gomi is no longer with Sengoku.

Gomi vs. Eddie Alvarez at DREAM.11.

At least that’s the rumor I’m starting.

So, are you saying Hioki Hatsu is no longer with Sengoku? It seems he’s not attending the contract signing event either and he’s their poster boy.

No. I Hioki lives in Nagoya, so it would take him at lest 2 hours & cost Sengoku 20 000 yen to get him there. Gomi lives in Minami-Rinkan which is less than 40mins from Shinjuku, and it would cost less than 1000 yen to get him there.

Obviously, the picture with Yoshida is the big 1. They are both way more famous than Sengoku is. Gomi is less famous than those 2, but still a considerably bigger name than Sengoku is, so him being at the press event would have made it a bigger event. I’m not dissing Hioki’s skills, but he is not a mainstream star by any measure. If he’d gone to the press conference none of the newspapers would have printed a photo of him together with Ishii.

In the past few months DREAM have hinted at a Gomi-Kawajiri match for NYE, Gomi has said he’s willing to fight Masato in a kickboxing match, said he’ll do Shooto again, hinted at wanting to enter the UFC & not attended Sengoku’s biggest news event. Sounds like a guy who is on the open market, doesn’t it?

Anyway, I hope he continues fighting top talent in Japan as he still has a lot to offer.
