Satoshi Ishii left Japan yesterday, heading to Las Vegas and Xtreme Couture for one month of training. Ishii confessed that since arriving home from the Machida training in Brazil he has, side by side with his MMA training, trained Shotokan Karate in the metropolitan area three times a week.

Ishii was originally going to head to Holland and train under Fedor Emelianenko, but because of circumstances with schedules and such, it has been postponed. SENGOKU then advised him to once again train in America.

His neck which he had surgery on recently is doing good. He said that he wants to fight a Japanese fighter in his debut, which will probably happen in November. He also said that he is planning to attend UFC 100 where his senior, Yoshihiro Akiyama, will make his UFC debut.

Ishii fails at being sexy. Only Akiyama can pull that one off.

Ishii’s such a fan of the sport. I really can’t wait to see his debut and all that he’s learned. Who do you think will be his first opponent?

    >Ishii’s such a fan of the sport.

    What does this even mean?

How exceptional is it for someone in a sport to be a fan of that sport?

And how do you even know that?
By ready blog posts that show him training and going to watch fights?

Ive never heard anyone say taht Kaka or Aleksandr Ovechkin are fans of football and hockey because they train and go to watch games.

Its one of those throwaways sentences like ‘hes training really hard’ (everyone does).

Another peeve “Ishii confessed that since arriving home from the Machida training in Brazil he has, side by side with his MMA training, trained Shotokan Karate in the metropolitan area three times a week.”
That’s right up there with “hes training hard now and really increased his BJJ work” as if other fighters arent doing the same.

Wow, who shit in your cereal? It seems that your role on this blog is to run around breaking apart peoples posts and showing your ass. What do I mean when I say Ishii’s a fan of the sport? I mean that unlike some other judo-to-mma converts, or mma converts in general, Ishii seems to be into mma and not into getting a quick paycheck. If you’ve listened to him talk about the sport, he differs from other Judoka’s who just expect to jump into MMA with limited skills and wreck house. He wants to become a complete mixed martial artist not some olympic judoka trying to play the roll of an MMA fighter just to get some quick cash.

As for your other peeve, that’s just dumb. You’re mad at Ishii for incorporating Karate into his training? You’re trying to compare it to practicing BJJ or any other facet of MMA but its not. How many other fighter do you know besides the handful that did Karate before MMA that still train it? Um, not many. He’s clearly going outside of what has been labeled “normal” training to become a better fighter. Please stop with the MMA elitist act, I haven’t even been on this blog that long and its already old.

How is the shit you eat ShotJunkie?

Zac Arnold or Jordan Brein from Sherdog maked the same point about MMA fighters who think they can take a new martial art and incorporate it and have it be useful so you can debate the meritas of adding/using new skills vs mastering them with thosse two guys …as for him loving MMA, stop being an asskising cheerleader and try to think and by the way, everyone is a mma convert, they all have background in other things and that yes, Ishiis commitment as seen from the outside looks no diferrent than Brock Lesnar, Blagoj Ivanov, Xande Ribeiro or Bobby Lashley have given then sport, you are just repeating hype like a Miley Cyrus fangirl. seriously, you cant tell me that Ishii is more amped than the 4 i mentionde or countless others because you dont know… you think you do because youo read some blogs but you dont although Id pay money to see you go to Lashley and tell him that… comparing a 21yr old who has cut all ties with his former martial art interest in mma with Yoshida and Nastula and another who had long careers in judo and joined in their 30’s is evident is trying to narrow the scope of your bs but its still nothing but reoeat hype “he trains harder than anyone”, “he has really been working on his BJJ like crazy the past 6 months”, “no one is an intense…” and so onl.. but your repeat cliches and platitudes that are common in sports and it makes you think you are connected …everyone has their little quirks. some are cynics and some are athletic supporters. i say show me the beef until then its all hype.

btw, here is Arnolds’s excellent recent article on Ishii:
    http://www.mmamemories.com/2009/06/25/problems-for-satoshi-ishii-and-sengoku-in-japan.html
or course, you will just cry that Zac is being mean to poor boohoohoo Ishii and probably lose your shit and go all chris croker on Youtubee about someone calling out hype…

Firstly, its Jordan Breen, not Jordan Brein. Its also funny that you should mention him when trying to spew off some garbage rant about how I’m wrong as I’m an avid listener of his radio show, enjoy his articles, and have emailed him often to share viewpoints on MMA. I for a fact know that “The Mastermind” shares the same sentiments on Ishii as I do and has never spewed the nonsensical garbage that you proclaim he has. So what does this mean? It means that you conjured up some half-assed “facts” (lies) out of your ass to try and make your rant look logical and relevant (though its neither).

You continue your mindless rambling by mentioning guys like Ivanov, Lesnar, Lashley, etc, etc and throwing some pity-party because I didn’t mention them. Well what do you expect? This is an article on Ishii, not on all of them. It seems like you’ve made some judgement call on me because I like the fact that Ishii’s trying to become a well-rounded fighter and somehow in your mind that means I must hate guys like Lesnar. Not only is that immature, but it couldn’t be farther from the truth. Is Lesnar training MMA full-time with peope that know what they’re doing? Yes. Is Lashley training fulltime and fighting in regional shows to get experience under his belt? Yes. Does Ivanov have MMA experience and does he train with SK Absolute instead of just trying to be a sambo guy playing it MMA? Yes. Has Xande showed improvement in his striking and overall game? Yes. Are you happy now? Its not my fault that when I said “Ishii isn’t like other MMA converts that only want a payday” you chose to fill in the blanks as you saw fit with guys whom I wasn’t even talking about. Like I said, its you showing your ass all over the place and making immature judgement calls on people. I’m aware that your posting name has changed but I get the feeling your one of those internet trollers with 50 million identities you use to harass posters). You should really cut out all the childish shots as well, it only pushes the general concenses that your an idiot gifted with a keyboard. “Your a Miley Cyrus fanboy kissass” ??? No, I am a fan of MMA though. Afterall my name is S H O O T J U N K I E (not ShotJunkie), you know Shoot as in Shooto? Of course I could stoop to your level and start throwing around petty insults to get some kind of a point across (is that what you’re trying to do?). I could make a judgment call on you and start throwing a hissy-fit about how you’re a horrible person that’s ruining the world but I don’t. I just give you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe you just have bad day, after bad day, after bad day and see harassing people on the net as a way to vent out your many frustrations. Now I would like for this to be the final time I have to adress this issue, or you for that matter, so that people wanting to find out the latest MMA info don’t have to get caught up in this nonsense. Please excocism whatever demon overtakes you when you get in front of a keyboard and relax.
