GP Match-Ups Announced! Kharitonov Returns

Additional fights for the DREAM.8 card were announced in a press conference today. In the non-GP Sergey Kharitonov returns to take on Jeff Monson in a Heavyweight fight, The rumored Murilo Ninja will take on Korean Yoon Dong Sik, and Shungo Oyama will replace Zelg Galesic to take on Kyokushin fighter Andrews Nakahara.

In the Welterweight GP Yuya Shirai will face Jason High, Marius Zaromskis will take on Seichi Ikemoto, and BJJ black belt Andre Galvao will make his DREAM debut against John Alessio.

Update: An additional fight might be added which would then include a known foreign fighter.

J.Z. Calvan To Return In April?

J.Z. Calvan talks in a new article at Tatame. The most interesting part of it via Google translate:

Andre Dida Out Of K-1 MAX…DREAM Next?


Dida explained the absence. “I started to train, but I had visa problem. I’m at Canada now and I can’t go out until March, so I called the president of the event telling that I wouldn’t be able to be there”, reveled the fighter, lamenting the happened.

“I’m very sad about that… I’m doing a very good work here with my brother and I can’t let it away. I’m a fighter and first of all is my career, but in the moment I’ll have to sacrifice that, but after March I’ll be prepared to come back to Japan”, affirmed André, who imagine that his next fight will be of MMA.

Last Weeks Fights

Yang Dong Yi got an impressive victory over Ryuta Noji in the first round of the HEAT Heavyweight GP at HEAT 8 last Sunday. He is now 4-0 with all wins by TKO.

SHOJI lost his second fight in a row on December 10th as the talented Takafumi Otsuka deefated him via unanimous decision.

SENGOKU Lightweight GP participant Bojan Kosednar lost his third fight in a row last week when Maciej Gorski defeated him via unanimous decision at KSW in Poland.

Jeff Monson got a big win last week as he defeated Ricco Rodriguez in the main event of MFA. Monson has stated since then that he will have a fight in SENGOKU in March (Pawel Nastula and Roger Gracie are also possible for this event). You can watch the fight here.

Many Fights On The Horizon For Kozo

Takeda Kozo will fight Tatsuya Kawajiri on NYE and is a scheduled participant for the K-1 MAX event in February. He has recently also been announced as a participant in the main event of the New Japan Kickboxing Federation: Brave Hearts 10 event on January 18th in Korakuen Hall. He will face a Thai fighter.
