Four Fights Announced! The 10 Minute First Round Lives(?)!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Four Lighweight GP fights have been officially announced for DREAM.1 on March 15th. Tatsuya Kawajiri will take on Hero’s veteran Black Mamba, Kazuyuki Miyata will face Luis Buscape, Koutetsu Boku from Krazy Bee will fight Joachim Hansen and the already known match between Shinya Aoki and J.Z. Calvan has been announced.

Also worth noting and something that personally, I am very happy about, is that the fights will be fought with a 10 minute first round and a 5 minute second round. Here is the new official DREAM website.

Update: I checked the DREAM web page again and now I don’t see anything about the round lengths. I remember that that was one of the first things I reacted to when I originally saw the card, so it almost had to have been there, but I’m not sure now.

Update #2: MMAWeekly.com have also written that there will be a 10 minute first round. We’ll just have to wait and see for an official rules release, which should be out quite soon.

That’s good news. I was hoping Mamba would be in the tourny. I want to see him fight Hansen or Dida. Hopefully, Dida gets matched up with someone with whom he can showcase his skills.

Any word on the rules? Soccer kicks, stomps, knees? Yellow cards?

Nope, nothing on rules yet, besides the 10 minute first rounds.

I thought he was going to be in it, and I remember reading it somewhere, but he isn’t in the fighters list on the website and Japanese sites don’t have him listed either. So we will have to wait and see about his participation.

Do you know how we will be able to watch DREAM in north america. HD NET perhaps?

I read that Cuban is trying to get it. But the TV side of DREAM doesn’t look good even in Japan. It will be on free TV with a 1 hour and 54 minute broadcast (commercials included).

Many of the hardcore fans in Japan wants it on PPV so that they can watch the full event and not edited like HERO’S was and K-1 MAX is. If the DREAM people can’t fix that the hardcore fans might follow SENGOKU instead because it will be on PPV.

Is the fight with cro cop available in canada?
If so, will it be live or will it be on after the fight is over?
