Many translated Mirko CroCop articles in this post. All thanks to Robert from MMA betting site betwwx (where you now find the SENGOKU V odds).

1. After The Bout

Cro Cop Wanted to Fight On: I Knew My Time Would Come

“Alaister was ahead on points, however its a 15 minute fight and i knew my time would come” said Mirko

Mirko wanted to continue to fight, however the ringside doctor prevented him from continuing.

“I’m angry it ended this way, it seemed as if he was the dominant one, however i wasn’t in trouble for a second and was waiting for my opportunities. I prepared very well because i thought the match could last a while. I thought i would knock him down in the end”

His manager Zvonimir Lučić confirmed that he wanted to continue the fight however the ringside officials prevented it as a precaution.

His manager stated that the injury is not a serious one. He doesn’t know when the rematch will take place however they want one as soon as possible.

Road To Dynamite!! 2008! Part 1

September 22, 2008 Leave a comment

This is the start of a series of posts about the Japanese NYE MMA events with information and rumors as they are revealed. Some reports will probably turn out to be untrue.

So far we have that SENGOKU’s event will take place on January 4th and that the SENGOKU Lightweight title fight between Gomi and the winner of the tournament probably takes place then.

It is still not known if DREAM will have its own NYE event or if there will just be a few DREAM fights mixed with K-1 fights on the Dynamite!! card. They are hoping for KID to be ready by then and J.Z. is looking to make his return.

There was a special on the NYE events on the November edition of magazine Kakutougi Tsushin. Here are a couple of things to note from the contents:

Roger Gracie Officially Out! Trevor Prangley To Participate In DREAM?

September 22, 2008 Leave a comment

WVR announced on the SENGOKU website today that Roger Gracie will not participate at SENGOKU V, and they aren’t happy. Apparently WVR requested some diagnosis and other medical papers to be sent from Roger and his management but nothing was sent. They also wanted Roger to fly to Japan and be checked by the WVR official doctor but he didn’t come. WVR views this as Roger abandoning, so there might be some kind of punishment. There is some additional information at Japan-MMA.com.

It’s impossible to know who is talking the truth in situations like these. I don’t think WVR would post a official release like this if there wasn’t any truth in it, because Roger is important to them. I don’t think Roger faked an injury either. There could have also been a misunderstanding.

In other news, Trevor Prangley told MMAJunkie.com that he could possibly be fighting in DREAM soon. Prangley just won a fight over Anthony Ruiz at the Strikeforce event this past Saturday.

Josh Barnett To Participate At SENGOKU VI?!

September 21, 2008 1 comment

An article on SportsNavi from today says that Josh Barnett revealed after a DEEP event in Shinjuku on the 20th that he thinks he will participate at SENGOKU VI in Saitama Super Arena. I don’t think this has been confirmed by SENGOKU yet as some other sites are reporting, but maybe I missed something. Though, if he is confident enough to say that he thinks he will participate before any official announcement has been made, it’s pretty sure that he will participate.
