Final Preparations! Lighting The Fuse

#15: Fujita Has Returned

Kazuyuki Fujita returned (photo) to Japan from his 4 week long training camp at Marco Ruas’s Gym in the U.S. on the 27th. When talking with the press he said that he doesn’t think there is another Japanese fighter who can fight with Alistair. “If I don’t do it, who will?!”

#14: Gono NYE Performance

Gono announced that if everything goes as planned, we will see a performance on NYE on the same level of the red & white song contest, which is the big TV program on NYE in Japan.

#13: Kazunori Yokota Shootboxing

#12: SENGOKU HQ Fight Videos

A few SENGOKU fights will be available on DREAM’s YouTube channel for a limited period of time. They are high quality and with no commentary. Check them out.

#11: SRC Vs. DREAM

#10: Sefo Vs. Nishijima Preview

#9: Kazuo Misaki Speaks

Misaki said that he started training for a fight while thinking that the highest chance for an opponent would be a certain person (probably Sakuraba). It didn’t happen so Misaki decided that he would not fight on NYE for once. However, the second time they offered him Manhoef he was of two minds.

Since he’s an MMA fighter and there is an opponent before him who wants a fight with him, he decided to take it though.

This is Misaki’s first fight since leaving GRABAKA. He has trained at the Power Of Dream gym (Satoshi Ishii, occasionally Kazunori Yokota, Singh Heart Jaideep, Tomoya Miyashita, etc.) since then (he knows the president there and has trained there before, so not much is different for him).

If Misaki was to describe Manhoef with one word it would be “dangerous”. He thinks that Manhoef’s physique is excellent and that his punches are strong. He’s currently thinking about which strategy to enter the fight with.

#8: Mousasi Vs. Goodridge?

According to DREAM Welterweight Jason High’s twitter, Gegard Mousasi will face Gary Goodridge on NYE.

#7: Special Rules In K-1 Fights

Andy Souwer asked for permission to wear his long Shootboxing spats against Masato and Masato permitted it and Yosuke Nishijima asked to wear shoes against Ray Sefo and Ray also permitted it so FEG announced these special rules for the fights. Nishijima will not be allowed to kick (he can knee though, same as against Aerts).

#6: Gegard Mousasi & Kazushi Sakuraba

The last fight of Dynamite!! will most likely be a superfight between Gegard Mousasi and someone TBA, either under K-1 or MMA rules. Kazushi Sakuraba is injured and will definitely not participate.

#5: Kazuo Misaki Vs. Melvin Manhoef Announced

#2: Announcement Tomorrow

When asked about the announcement of the rest of the Dynamite!! fights on twitter, FEG’s Tanigawa wrote tomorrow (the 25th).

#1: Drunken Fist Minowaman

Drunken Fist Minowaman - GBRing.com

Minowaman usually does some unorthodox training in the open training sessions before his fights. However, on the 23rd he did some usual weight training like sit-ups, 180 kg calf raises, etc. at the Endo Gym.

After the weight training he did some shadow boxing and after that he showed the movements of snake fist, drunken fist, and kame hame wave (Ryu from Street Fighter). One day when he couldn’t sleep he saw some Jackie Chan videos on YouTube and it was then he saw styles such as the snake fist. He thought it was awesome and has incorporated this movie studying into his training since September.

About using these in his fight, Minowaman says with a bitter smile that sake is illegal so it’ll be difficult. Minowaman also says that it would be ideal if he became new ashuraman (Kinnikuman character) for the fight but since new ashuraman has six arms that’s unreasonable. So he’ll go with the two-armed kinnikuman.

Click here for photos of Minowaman showing movements from all three styles.

    Gary Goodridge?!
    0-9-1 in last 10 K-1 fights.
0-5-0 in last 5 MMA fights.
Putting him against one of the best fighters right now is such a waste…
I would rather see him fighting Bob Sapp. Why this fight never happened?
BTW, Goodridge will be fighting Ron Sparks in February at some local show in the US (‘Big Show’ or something like that).

Not a good fight but I don’t know if I would want him to face anyone better with a few days notice.

  23. December 25, 2009 at 11:39 am

well, he said directly after the Soko fight he was gonna fight on the Dynamite card. so, that should indicate he has been training for a few months now just not knowing what opponent he would get. and im sure he knew it would be a K1 fight, so if he has been training all stand up for a few months know he could of fought some one better than Goodridge. if anything, if he fought Zimmerman like originally rumored, then Zimmerman would have the disadvantage since he fought earlier this month

    i mean, seriously….Goodridge? seriously lame.

Mousasi is sweet an all, but dude’s only had one K-1 fight. He did look baller as hell against Musashi, but Zimmerman just took Bonjasky the distance…I don’t think Mousasi is on that K-1 level yet.

still, I believe there have been some closer than that before. I think once even Masato’s fight was announced very close to the event.

    This situation shouldn’t happen though.

  36. December 28, 2009 at 12:29 am

Mousasi may fight on boxing event at 8.1.10., so info about Zimmerman vs. Choi can be reliable.
