Mirko Three Fight Deal! Reported In Japan Even Before UFC 99

The three fight deal that CroCop now seems to have with FEG was reported in Japan even before UFC 99 had taken place.

An article by NikkanSports on the 13th (UFC took place on the 14th in Japan) said that he got around 450 e-mails by Japanese fans when he announced on his blog that he would make a UFC comeback. And it said that after learning this, his mother Ana(?) told him that Japanese fans respect him.

The article says that he will fight in DREAM on July, September, and on NYE. He wanted a rematch with Nogueira in the UFC but he chose DREAM in the end. Defeating Al-Turk was a must for a DREAM fight in July.

There’s no way this will happen. UFC has exclusive contracts and they won’t allow him to fight outside the UFC until his contract is fulfilled.

His contract with the UFC was only for 1 fight I believe.

  3. June 14, 2009 at 9:38 am

    Oh, then I stand corrected.

it was a 1 fight deal he had with UFC 99.

read around the web, Dan flipped out hardcore. apparently, Mirko told him he wold sign for 2 more fights after the UFC 99 fight and instead turned around to fulfill his FEG 3 fight contract that Dana claims he didnt know about.

if Mirko can keep winning, i see him fighting Fedor at this years Dynamite for a inaugural HW Dream Belt 🙂

It wouldn’t surprise me if everyone involved (Mirko, Dana, everyone) were in on this even before all this. Now they’re just talking.

CoH… the freakshows? Because some fights like the Super Hulk tourney are for the Japanese fans, doesn’t mean the 95% of the rest are ‘freak show’ fights. Don’t be a moron. All the GP’s have been amazing.

Its amazing that the US media and a good chunk of the MMA fans swallow everything that Dana White says without question. He could say that Anderson Silva trains by jogging back and forth across Lake Mead outside of Las Vegas and it would be reported as fact. I know that there’s plenty of Dana White nuthuggers out there but the way they lap up everything that comes out of his mouth is alternately hilarious and pathetic…

This is what I had been saying all day yesterday when the internet was freaking out and calling Crocop a coward. There’s no way Dana White didn’t know that Crocop was headed back to Japan after the UFC 99.

I apologize for disrespecting Crocop. It turns our he was a lot smarter than I thought. We need more fighters like him.

By the way zuffa zombies, zuffa would have lost half their ticket sales if crocop hadn’t of showed. So, finally a fighter breaks even with these crooks.

Zuffa has no hw division. There just isn’t any top ten fighters there. Crocop did some thinking and made the right decision.

he did not have a 1 fight deal, he had a verbal contract with Dana White over the phone, and he had told Dana that he wanted to stay with the ufc. he signed the deal with Dream before ufc 99, and screwed Dana over. He wanted to get the ufc 99 fight in to get his name a bit bigger before he went to dream and fight people he knows he can beat. its just a sly business deal, and as far as I am concerned, I think Dana White should at least give him props for being so savy and smart about it, even though he (Dana) got tricked.

This Zuffa Zombie, pass the brain please; is actually disappointed in the way it went about. I respect a person that can keep their word on a handshake, I guess honor is lost in Croatia as well.

Honor?????lololol…like when UFC bought the greatest MMA show in the World (PRIDE FC) promessing to keep the events and then just end with PRIDE so that the UFC can be the undisputted greatest MMA Championship? I like UFC because I like MMA, but Dana White is a prick…you can tell just by the way he talks about other people! MMA = Japan. In USA you try to make MMA a mainstream sport, in Japan it always have been, there everybody loves it! There is nothing of freak in it!

Mirko will be able to do it bc it was just a deal for 1 fight in ufc 99. This is gonna be awesome, I can’t wait till he ends up fighting Nogueira.
And I definately would agree that Dana White is an idiot. Did you see his comments about Brock Lesnar after UFC 100? I bet lesnar was encouraged by Dana White to bring some drama into the ring if he won… And everyone does really love MMA in Japan.. it’s crazyy.
