DREAM.12! Experiment

DREAM has put up a promo video of DREAM.12 on their YouTube channel and it contains the management discussing the “experiment” of DREAM.12 that was hinted at last week. It might be a change of the fighting surface.

However, in the video it says: “not in the UFC”, “violence”, etc. So could it be the introduction of soccer kicks and stomps in DREAM? But Sasahara said last week that it will be the first of its kind in MMA.

Sakuraba in the video (from the last event) says: “It’s useless to escape”/”I must not escape”. You can’t escape from a cage?

They are gonna use 6-sided CAGE (Strikeforce style)!!
Check this video – 0:32 (drawing of a 6-sided ‘something’) and 0:39 (cage’s pic on the desk)!!

    yup, might be that.

I think the pics of 39 are of the octagon because that’s when they say: not in the ufc.

    thanks for the pics.

If you look closely at the cage from 0:39, you can see that the doors are located between posts, in the center of the wall. UFC octagon doors are installed close to cage posts…

Actually Sasahara said, “It’s not the first of its kind in Japan but…” So, NOB, your post is a tad bit off. Just thought I’d let ya know. 😀

I will continue to put my faith in Sasahara. I don’t think he would mess with the inherent mechanics of MMA.

It will likely be some sort of cage-hybrid.

However, shouldn’t the potential fighters of DREAM.12 already be aware of what style of surface/stage their fighting on? I hope DREAM has planned far enough ahead, and let their fighters know what’s up. That’s my main concern.

ops, he also said it’s the first of its kind in MMA. I think I thought of that when I wrote it.

    yeah, that’s true.

Whatever it is, it can’t be worse than YAMMA.

Anyone remember PRIDE The BEST series and it’s 8-sided ring?

Yamma wan’t that bad. it’s just the zuffa zombie media. That won’t support anything new that is non-zuffa.

Probably an 6-sided ring. I don’t really care about this too much, as long as it’s not a cage.

lol, YAMMA was horrible they couldn’t even defend td’s because of the slant they would try to sprawl on. But, to each his own.

Interesting, never heard of this. I just hope it’s not an 8 sided ring/hell in a cell type of deal.

Man I really hope it’s not any sort of cage, I hate cages…I would love to see soccer kicks and stomps back, but with it being said that it’s new it doesn’t seem likely.

it probably is a Strikeforce cage. Since they are going to co-promote, it seems like it would be a good idea to unify what they fight in.

I think if they’re going to co-promote I would personally like to see them both use the same rules, so there won’t be any advantage other than the fight area (cage or ring)

Definitely looks like a cage but the way its drawn it looks like it has 2 parts. An outer hexagon and then the inner part looks kinda cloverleaf like. Interesting…

why in the hell would you want them to use strikeforce’s rules?

not having the 4-point attack is the suck.

i heard somewhere they wanted to do a hybrid pro wrestling style thing, where one round would be in a cage and the next in a ring, or something to that effect…

Whoa, re-read the above statement. I said I’d like them to use the same rules, not Strikeforce’s.
