DEEP 43 IMPACT

Korean Won Sik Park got another first round victory and improved to 7-1-1 as he defeated Yuichi Ikari by choke at 4:58. Keep an eye on this guy in the future.

Koichiro Matsumoto got back on track today after his title match loss against Kikuno by defeating Shunichi Shimizu via unanimous decision after 2 rounds.

Bernard Ackah just defeated the returning Ryushi Yanagisawa by TKO in the first round.

Masakazu Imanari successfully defends his title by defeating Tomohiko Hori via unanimous decision (5-0) after three rounds.

Takafumi Otsuka defeated Dokonjonosuke Mishima via unanimous decision (5-0) to become the new Featherweight champion of DEEP. Not unexpected, especially considering Mishima’s attitude yesterday.

Ryo Chonan defeated Jutaro Nakao via unanimous decision.

The 4th World Weight Category Tournament

The 4th World Weight Category Tournament in Kyokushin Karate can be seen here. The 3rd place matches in all 4 weight classes are about to begin and after that are the finals. I don’t know how it’s gone for Nakahara thus far but if he didn’t lose in the first round he will be in one of the fights.

Andrews was supposed to be in the 3rd place match but it seems that he injured himself before/during the semifinal (the commentator says that his movement looked strange in the semifinal) and then after losing that fight he couldn’t participate in the 3rd place match (injured himself further in the semifinal?).

Shootboxing Girls S-cup

The first Shootboxing Girls S-cup is taking place right now in Japan and the two girls (Japanese RENA and Korean Lim Su Jeon) who fought in the first official K-1 Women’s Division fight earlier this year in Korea are in the tournament.

RENA just won her quarterfinal match by decision. Saori Ishioka (by decision) and Madoka Okada (by KO) won their quarterfinals. Lim lost her quarterfinal to V Hajime by decision. Looks like V Hajime used a lot of grappling in the fight which Lim doesn’t have much experience in (most of the girls in the tournament have fought MMA/are MMA fighters).

RENA defeated Ishioka by TKO in the third round in the first semifinal. V Hajime won the other semifinal by unanimous decision.

RENA became the 2009 Girls S-cup champion by defeating V Hajime via unanimous decision in the final.

by his injury, i mean Nakahara’s.

I don’t know how serious it is, but since they didn’t know that he was gonna pull out of the 3rd place match directly after the semifinal it means that he at least didn’t visibly break anything in the fight.

Poor Nakahara, I hope he’s still able to compete at Dream. I enjoy watching him fight and Zelg seemed like an interesting match-up at this point.

Congrats to Otsuka! Glad to see Matsumoto bounce back and Parky is definitely a guy who could be something in the future.
